Hezbollah's deputy leader, Sheikh Naim Kassem, has stated that Israel will pay a high price if it starts a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip. Kassem also claimed that Hezbollah is already "in the heart of the battle" and is trying to weaken the Israeli enemy by heating up the Lebanon-Israel border. There are concerns that Hezbollah might open a new front in the Israel-Hamas war with a large-scale attack on northern Israel. Kassem said that Hezbollah is already affecting the course of the conflict by keeping Israeli army divisions tied up in the north.
