Philippines raises concerns over Taiwan in talks with China

The Philippines' foreign secretary, Enrique Manalo, expressed concerns about escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait to Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang during a meeting in which the two countries discussed deepening economic ties. While they reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and cooperation, China has been conducting military exercises around Taiwan this month after a meeting between the Taiwanese President and the US House Speaker.
